Bloom-Carroll High School
Media Center was recently issued a grant from the State Library of Ohio totaling $4950. The goal of the project entitled, "THE POWER OF NON-FICTION” was used to augment, improve
and enhance the non-fiction literature collection in the high school library/media center to align with Ohio’s New Learning Standards and ELA Literacy Criteria.
Nonfiction
illuminates any number of areas, from history to business and religion to
psychology, all helping to making our students more informed, intelligent, and
well-rounded. Studies have shown that just by exposing students to non-fiction literature, their vocabulary will expand, giving them more words to work into everyday conversations, in-turn developing and refining their communication skills.
There were 278 new
non-fiction books purchased with the monies from this grant. Thank you Stephani Dinsmore, BCHS Media
Specialist, for working on this grant and increasing the learning opportunities
for our students.
